As a Service Technician, you’ll work hands-on with a robotic spray system that applies refractory lining to tundishes—playing a critical role in keeping steel production running safely and efficiently.
This is a great opportunity for someone who enjoys working with equipment, troubleshooting problems, and being directly involved in industrial operations, while gaining exposure to automation and cutting-edge applications.
What You’ll Be Doing
In this role, your day will combine machine operation, problem-solving, and hands-on technical work in a heavy industrial environment:
- Operate a robotic spraying system used to apply refractory liner materials (3–4 tundish applications per shift)
- Set up and position the tundish robot and supporting equipment (mixer, pump, hoses)
- Assess conditions on the tundish deck and determine spraying requirements
- Perform routine maintenance, inspections, and troubleshooting of mechanical equipment
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area around the equipment
- Enter production and performance data into pre-formatted systems (basic computer use)
- Work closely with site personnel while representing RHI Magnesita on-site
- Participate in trials, improvements, and continuous optimization of processes
- Follow all site safety protocols, including daily safety meetings and structured safety programs
What to Expect
- Training period (first month): Monday–Friday daytime schedule
- Transition to a rotating continental shift (2-2-3) with 12-hour days
- A hands-on, team-oriented environment within a steel mill
- Work that keeps you active - this is not a desk job
What You Bring
We’re looking for someone who is mechanically inclined, dependable, and safety-focused, with a strong work ethic and willingness to learn.
- 1–3 years of experience in a production, manufacturing, or industrial environment
- Mechanical aptitude and comfort working with equipment and hand tools
- Basic troubleshooting skills and a practical, problem-solving mindset
- Strong commitment to workplace safety
- Basic computer skills (data entry, familiarity with Microsoft Excel or similar)
- Ability to lift up to 35 lbs and work in a physically demanding environment
- Ability to work rotating shifts (including weekends as part of the schedule)
Compensation & Benefits
- Salary: $55,000 – $65,000 CAD annually
Working Environment
Work is performed in a heavy industrial manufacturing environment with high noise levels and exposure to operational equipment.
