You are a refractory specialist with experience in the industry and have sound expertise in the application of refractory products, preferably in aggregates from the steel sector. Your excellent cooperation and communication skills make it easy to act as an interface between RHI Magnesita and its customers.

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Refractory Site Manager to join our team and oversee the Refractory activities at our client’s steel plants within Iraq market.

 

Job Summary

 

As the Refractory Site Manager, you will be responsible for managing all refractory-related activities within Iraq market. Your primary focus will be on ensuring the efficient execution of refractory site activities/ contracts while maintaining strict adherence to safety protocols and quality standards. You will be reporting to the Area Sales Manager.

 

In addition, you have:

  • Bachelor’s degree (e.g.: metallurgical engineering, mechanical engineering, materials engineering)
  • At least 10 years of professional experience of refractory application in the steel sector
  • At least 5 years of experience of the steel making units: EAF, Ladle Furnace and Caster
  • Good MS-Office knowledge
  • Excellent knowledge in English
  • High social competence and a sovereign appearance
  • Strong team and customer orientation.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Provide on-site leadership and supervision to the refractory team, ensuring compliance with safety procedures, regulations, and industry best practices.
  • Implement and enforce safety protocols and promote a culture of safety among the team.
  • Distinctive problem-solving competence.
  • Having expertise in the steel plants market in Iraq would be advantageous.

 

About the job

 

The purpose of the Refractory Site Manager position is to provide a tailored refractory solution to develop and grow the current and future refractory opportunities.

 

The main objectives are:

  1. Site Supervision and Safety:
  • Oversee the execution of all refractory activities.
  • Provide technical guidance and support.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues.
  • Provide on-site leadership and supervision to the refractory team, ensuring compliance with safety procedures, regulations, and industry best practices.
  • Conduct regular safety meetings, inspections, and audits to identify and mitigate potential hazards.
  • Implement and enforce safety protocols and promote a culture of safety among the team.

 

  1. Technical Expertise:
  • Stay updated with the latest advancements and best practices in refractory technology relevant to the steel industry.
  • Provide technical guidance and support to the team.
  • Troubleshoot technical issues and collaborate with engineers and suppliers to find optimal solutions.

 

  1. Documentation and Reporting:
  • Maintain accurate documentation, including reports, records, and progress updates.
  • Prepare comprehensive reports on overall refractory performance, advanced qualities, activities, safety performance.
  • Record and report on daily and monthly refractory performances.

 

  1. Client Relationship Management:
  • Collaborate with the client’s site management, engineers, supervisors to understand their requirements, provide technical advice, and address concerns or issues.
  • Foster positive relationships with the clients within the allocated region to ensure customer satisfaction and promote long-term partnerships.
  • Conduct technical meetings with the clients.
  • Following up closely the steel making operating parameters and the impact on refractory performance and consumption
  • Deal with customer technical complaints.
  • Promote RHI image and products within Iraq. This required about 40% travelling across Iraq steel plants in order to engage with clients and cater to their specific needs and requirements.
