Your position
As Head of Commissioning & After Sales, you will take on a global leadership role within the RHI Magnesita Advanced Technology Group, with responsibility across our main competence centers: Flow Control Systems (Switzerland), Sensors (Sweden), Machinery & Digital Ecosystem (Austria).
You will lead global commissioning and service activities, ensuring successful execution of customer projects worldwide. You combine technical leadership, operational excellence, and global coordination to ensure reliable and scalable installation, commissioning, and handover of our systems. Your scope covers flow control systems, sensor solutions, and machinery for steel, non-ferrous, and refractory applications, including robotic cell projects in collaboration with external partners. You and your team represent the final customer-facing step of our value chain, ensuring system performance, reliability, and long-term customer satisfaction.
Your tasks
- Leading, motivating, and developing a globally distributed team of commissioning engineers and service specialists
- Taking overall responsibility for commissioning and after-sales activities across all competence centers
- Ensuring high-quality execution of site evaluations, installation preparation and supervision, system commissioning and start-up, and customer training including final acceptance
- Overseeing after-sales service and lifecycle support to ensure reliable system operation
- Ensuring fast and structured emergency responses in critical customer situations
- Defining, harmonizing, and continuously improving global commissioning standards, processes, and tools
- Establishing best practices and knowledge sharing across Systems, Sensors, and Machinery domains, while acting as a key interface between Go-to-Market, Technology, Product Management, and Operations
- Driving safety standards, operational excellence and customer satisfaction across all regions
- Coordinating external partners and system integrators (especially in robotic cell projects), driving safety, operational excellence, and customer satisfaction, and supporting a scalable global service organization through enabling and training regional experts
Your profile
- Degree in mechanical, electrical, automation, or mechatronics engineering (or a comparable field)
- Proven leadership experience in commissioning, service, or industrial project execution in a global environment
- Relevant experience in industrial systems, machinery, automation, heavy industry, or plant engineering
- Strong expertise in commissioning complex systems, with solid understanding of mechanical, electrical, and automation interfaces and ability to read technical drawings
- Strong customer focus and experience working in international, cross-functional environments
- Structured and solution-oriented working style with strong communication and stakeholder management skills
- Willingness to travel internationally (~60 days/year)
Languages: German – fluent, English – fluent
Nice to have: Experience with robotics, system integration, or automation-ready machinery; knowledge of PLC systems and server environments; experience in building or scaling global service organizations; familiarity with commissioning protocols, acceptance testing, and safety standards; experience with external partners, OEMs, or system integrators; background in after-sales service and lifecycle management
