About the Job

As a Customer Application Specialist your responsibiities will include:

  • To enhance the Customer’s satisfaction with the operation of RHI Flow Control Equipment.
  • Training of customer personnel to safely and effectively operate our Flow Control equipment
  • Learn the customer’s operation, and how our equipment will/does affect that operation.
  • Equipment coordination with Sales / Purchasing and Engineering on Flow Control Projects.
  • New installations: Monitor Slide Gate and Slide Gate support equipment during installation process to insure to a smooth and trouble-free commissioning.
  • Existing Installations:  Review operation and make suggestions for improving performance and operation of the Slide Gates and associated equipment.

 

 

Job Requirements

  • Customer problems:  Review customer problems in an efficient manner to ensure the customer problems with the Flow Control products are addressed quickly and effectively and to the satisfaction of the customer.
  • Periodic Visits:  To work with sales and service personnel to schedule periodic customer visits to perform preventative review of the customer processes.  These preventative reviews are an important pro-active approach to minimize customer problems with the equipment.
  • Process review: In addition to reviewing the Flow Control Equipment, review the customer processes that interact with the flow control equipment to determine that the processes will not have a negative effect on the operation of the Flow Control Equipment. Audits should be performed and documented to make sure that SOPs are being followed.
  • Customer training: Customer training and review is an important contributing factor to the operation of the Flow Control Equipment.
  • Customer Equipment storage:  Review the customer conditions involved with the customer storage of Flow Control refractory and associated Flow Control Mechanical spare equipment to determine if storage is adequate.
  • Cooperate with Sales and Engineering to determine coverage needed for trials and commissioning:  Be clear with sales the amount coverage that will be provided and converse with customer concerning safety regulations and specific needs the customer may require.
  • Slide Gate Project Coverage: Assist with shift coverage during the trial or commissioning of the slide gate, hydraulic and control equipment. Document the events as that take place as during the commissioning as well as the performance of the equipment.
  • Potential Customers:  Review and report the customer processes to sales and engineering so that the correct equipment is being quoted to the potential customer.  Determine if the customer has special or unique processes that will need to be addressed during the installation/commissioning. 
  • Customer Problems:  Isolate the problems between Process / Our Equipment / Our Refractory.  Regardless of the source of the problem, the customer needs to know the SPECIFIC issue that is the root cause of the problem. 

 

 

Physical Requirements

  • The ability to lift 50 pounds on occasion
  • The ability to see and respond to dangerous situations
  • The ability to safely climb stairs
  • The ability to wear personal protective gear correctly
  • The ability to travel

 

Working Environment

This position requires constant traveling. Traveling could be in the form of flying or driving. The steel mill working environment will fluctuate in temperature depending on the seasons and location, being extreme at times. Noise levels can be very high and require hearing protection to be worn during the job.  This job can be inside or outside and will be going between an office environment to a steel plant environment. The job requires safe handling of hot refractory and metallic materials as well as working around equipment with stored energy like hydraulics and some electrical applications.
