Safety Team Leader

About the job

This Leader, EHS Operations position will partner with all areas of our organization to develop effective and progressive safety/ environmental solutions to drive a culture of excellent and performance improvement with sustainable change within our North America mining and manufacturing facilities. This position will be a visible and passionate leader, responsible for managing and mentoring the team to successfully plan, develop, review, and administer proactive safety, environmental, IMS and health programs for the US, Canada, and Mexico.

Tasks will include:

    • Aligns global requirements to regional actions and deliverables while working with the region to develop reasonable and actionable KPIs that yield real solutions.
    • Reviews, implements, and provides overall guidance for implementation of regional safety programs such as behavior-based safety programs, non-routine task evaluations, risk assessments, new ISO safety and environmental standards, and general corporate safety policies and programs.
    • Develops regional strategy for alignment of global environmental and sustainability
    • Responsible for maintaining and complying with ISO 9001, 14001
    • Developing a strategic path to upgrading all facilities to 45001 and 50001 by 2025.
    • Proactively engage locations throughout US, CAN, and Mexico to drive transformation and live the safety culture
    • Ensure the teams effectively manages all facets of Worker's Compensation from communication with the employee to the medical provider; Conduct post-accident investigations to determine the root cause and develop effective and timely action plans.
    • Leads, mentors, empowers, and guides a team of environmental, IMS and safety personnel to develop standard safe work instructions, conduct follow up work related to safety incidents, near misses, and safety improvement suggestions from employees, developing out-of-the-box solutions for more complex safety challenges when needed.
    • Develops forward thinking ideas by partnering with leadership to develop new insightful solutions to daily issues and mitigate risk.
    • Provides technical expertise and leadership to site teams

 

 

About you

  • Certified Safety Professional certification required
  • Experience with Health and Safety Experience, preferably in manufacturing or related industry
  • Knowledge of OSHA and Workers Compensation
  • Able to build relationships inside and outside of the company
  • Microsoft Office Suite proficiency
  • Proficient in reading, writing and speaking in English
  • Site/Contractor Management Experience - preferred
