Job Description: Sales in Iron Making

Title : General Manager

Work Location : TATA Group, SAIL, RINL, NMDC & JSW Group

Reports To : HOD_Sales (Iron Making)

Job Summary

The Sales Executive for Iron Making Sales is responsible for developing and managing customer relationships within the steel and metallurgical industries, promoting refractories in Iron Making units- Blast Furnace (Runner refractory, Tap Hole Clay, Shotcrete Repairs) identifying new business opportunities, and driving sales growth. The role requires strong technical knowledge of Iron making , refractories used in Iron Making, market trends and customer requirements.


Key Responsibilities

1. Sales & Business Development

  • Promote and sell refractory to Iron Making manufacturers in PSU(including RINL and NMDC), TATA Group and JSW Group
  • Identify and develop new business opportunities.
  • Prepare and deliver technical presentations about product benefits and applications
  • Achieve monthly, quarterly and annual sales targets.

2. Customer Relationship Management

  • Build long-term relationships with procurement teams, plant managers and decision-makers in steel plants
  • Conduct regular client visits, plant surveys and technical discussions
  • Address customer inquiries, complaints and quality concerns promptly.

3. Market Research & Analysis

  • Monitor Iron ore, scrap, billet and steel market prices and industry trends.
  • Analyze competitor offerings and identify market gaps.
  • Prepare sales forecasts and market intelligence reports.

 

4. Negotiation & Contract Management

  • Prepare Techno-commercial offer against each enquiry and submit within timeline
  • Negotiate pricing, payment terms, logistics and supply agreements.
  • Draft and manage sales contracts, ensuring compliance with company policies.
  • Coordinate with legal, finance and logistics teams for order execution.

5. Coordination & Execution

  • Coordinate with production, QA/QC, dispatch and logistics teams to ensure timely delivery of products.
  • Track order status, shipment schedule and inventory.
  • Maintain records of sales activities, CRM data and customer interactions.

Qualifications & Skills

Educational Qualifications

  • Diploma in Ceramic Technology (>10 Years experience) /Bachelor’s degree in Ceramic Technology/Metallurgical engineering/Materials Science / Masters in Business Administration.

Experience

  • 10+ years of experience in Sales and Service, especially in steel, iron ore or Metallics
  • Exposure to multiple Steel purchasers will be preferred

Technical Skills

  • Basic understanding of DRI making processes
  • Proficiency in MS Office, CRM tools and basic data analysis.
  • Strong presentation skill

Soft Skills

  • Strong communication and negotiation skills.
  • Relationship-building and customer management.
  • Problem-solving and analytical thinking.
  • Ability to travel frequently for client visits.

Work Environment & Conditions

  • Based at corporate office or regional sales location.
