  Sensitivity: Internal Job Description: Aggregate In charge – Iron Making Job Title : Asst. Manger / Dy. Manager / Manager Location : Durgapur Steel Plant Department : Iron Making - Service Reports To : Site Head- Service Role Overview The Aggregate In charge of BF Runner Management is responsible for ensuring efficient, safe, and continuous operation of the blast furnace cast house, runner systems, and associated aggregates. The role involves managing runner preparation, maintenance, material flow, housekeeping, workforce supervision, safety compliance, and coordination with production & maintenance teams to achieve optimum BF performance. Key Responsibilities 1. Runner Operation & Maintenance  Oversee the preparation, drying, patching, and maintenance of hot metal (HM) and slag runners.  Monitor runner conditions during tapping and ensure timely repairs to avoid breakout or overflow.  Plan for castable consumption and coordinate for timely material availability. 2. Cast House & Aggregate Management  Supervise cast house operations including runner lines, Main Iron Runner, Metal Runner, tilting runner, cast house floor, and slag Runner and spouts.  Close monitoring of the BF Operation & Cast house Practice. Coordinate with cast house operators, and senior official day to day basis and interact with them to update runner conditions as well as requirements for smooth operation.  Maintain availability of tools, refractory materials, equipment, and consumables. 3. Safety & Compliance  Enforce safety protocols including PPE usage, hot metal handling, and emergency procedures.  Conduct safety inspections, risk assessments, and ensure compliance with ISO, OSHA, and company standards.  Ensure zero-incident operations during tapping and maintenance activities. 4. Team Management & Coordination  Lead working crew, conduct shift-wise job allocation, training, and performance monitoring.  Planning for repair schedule to complete the repairs in time and coordinate with contractor for availability of machinery. 5. Process Monitoring & Reporting  Monitor tapping duration, metal flow rate, slag ratio, runner life, and refractories performance.  Capture shift reports, downtime analysis, material usage, and breakdown logs.  Suggest improvements for runner design, refractory quality, and cast house efficiency. Sensitivity: Internal 6. Housekeeping & Quality Control  Maintain cast house cleanliness, spillage control, and proper slag/metal handling.  Ensure adherence to metallurgical quality standards and minimize metal losses.  Implement 5S practices across the cast house and runner areas. 7. Required Qualifications & Skills Education  Diploma / B.Tech in Metallurgy, Mechanical, Ceramic (More than 07 years’ experience in similar field also be considered). Experience  More than 05 years in Blast Furnace Cast House Runner Management. Technical Skills  Knowledge of BF operations, tapping practices, cast house equipment, and refractory materials.  Experience in runner preparation, castable / ramming mass management, and tap-hole drilling systems.  Understanding process safety, hot metal handling, and maintenance practices. Soft Skills  Leadership and team handling  Strong communication skills  Problem-solving and decision-making  Ability to work in shifts under high-temperature environments 8.
