About the job

In our pioneer research team, you will pursue innovative solutions and projects for transforming spent refractories into valuable raw materials for refractory applications. Specifically, you will be a core team member in the frame of a Horizon Europe funded research program for the development of novel mineral recycling technologies: you will be responsible for bundling and interpreting results from an international consortium of industrial and research partners in the field of sensor-based sorting and waste management. In collaboration with our regional recycling teams, you translate these findings into pragmatic solutions for the refractory industry. You will be working at RHI Magnesita’s European R&D Hub in an environment of refractory experts and product developers with strong connection to innovation. In a post-Covid19 environment you are ready to travel to international cooperation partners, production sites and conferences up to 20% of your time.

 

In addition, your tasks will include

  • Management of research work packages within a Horizon Europe project worldwide.
  • Comprehensive characterization of spent refractory material
  • Support the development of an automated sorting equipment for mineral waste
  • Generation of required inputs for life cycle assessment and techno economic analysis
  • Lead collaborations for the development of alternative products design projects
  • Support the regular project reporting to the European Commission

What we expect from you in terms of

 

Education

Higher technical education (MSc in either physics, process engineering, earth science, material science, or similar course of studies)

 

Languages

English – Proficient/Fluent

German – Proficient/Fluent

 

Work Experience

Basic knowledge and experience in mineral waste management and regulations

Fundamental knowledge of sensor-based sorting technologies

Basic programming skills (E.g., python, Matlab, VBA)

Some experience in leading technical projects, ideally related to refractories

The potential annual gross salary for this position is € 53.200,00 on a full-time basis. We value your education, skills and experience and will make sure these are reflected accordingly in your final set salary.
