Join the Department of Pioneer Research as a Research Associate and become part of an exciting international collaboration on industrial decarbonization. Our team is dedicated to developing cutting-edge technologies that pave the way for a more sustainable future in high-temperature industries.
In this role, you will lead key tasks within CCUpScale, a high-impact project funded under the AUSTRALIA-AUSTRIA JOINT CALL 2024, while actively contributing to its overall coordination. This initiative focuses on advancing mineral carbonation technology, with the ambitious goal of scaling up from demonstration to a commercial pilot plant. You’ll be working alongside interdisciplinary teams across Austria and Australia, contributing to project management, data analysis, and process optimization.
Your tasks
- Analyze and interpret data from pilot-scale demonstrations, focusing on process optimization and product development
- Collaborate with engineers and researchers to translate demonstration results into costed engineering designs
- Develop project documentation, including grant reporting, progress updates, and technical publications
- Support the development of mineral carbonation products and conduct trials to demonstrate commercial potential
- Promote knowledge sharing and represent the project in international forums and stakeholder engagements
Your profile
- Degree in Geosciences, Materials Science, Chemistry, Engineering or related studies
- Proficiency in analyzing and interpreting data
- Basic knowledge of qualitative and quantitative mineral characterization techniques
- Familiarity with raw material quality control
- Expertise in industrial minerals and their applications
- Experience managing interdisciplinary R&D projects
- Ability to coordinate effectively across disciplines and regions
- Proven experience with grant applications
Languages: English – Fluent, German would be a plus
Nice to have: Experience in scaling processes from lab to industry
