About the Opportunity
As a Precast Refractory Professional, you'll serve as a technical expert supporting the development, implementation, and optimization of precast refractory solutions for customers across North America. Working closely with Sales, Research & Development, Operations, and Recycling teams, you'll help solve customer challenges, improve product performance, and drive opportunities for growth, efficiency, and sustainability.
This is a remote position with extensive travel (75%+) to customer and manufacturing sites.
What You’ll Do
- Partner with Sales teams to understand customer requirements and recommend precast refractory solutions.
- Conduct field measurements and assessments to support mold design and fabrication activities.
- Support manufacturing processes related to the production of precast refractory components.
- Coordinate and monitor product trials at customer sites to evaluate performance and gather feedback.
- Identify opportunities to improve product performance, manufacturing efficiency, and customer processes.
- Document, analyze, and communicate product quality and performance results to customers and internal stakeholders.
- Collaborate with R&D on new product development initiatives and continuous improvement projects.
- Support Operations with product footprint strategies, manufacturing transfers, and implementation activities.
- Partner with Recycling teams to advance sustainability objectives and circular economy initiatives.
- Provide hands-on technical support in customer and manufacturing environments while maintaining compliance with safety standards and OSHA regulations.
What You Bring
- Bachelor's degree in Ceramic Engineering, Metallurgical Engineering, Materials Science, Chemical Engineering, or a related technical field preferred. Relevant industry experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.
- 5+ years of experience in refractories, steelmaking, heavy machinery, or a related industrial environment.
- Knowledge of refractory materials, applications, and steelmaking practices.
- Mechanical aptitude with the ability to support equipment such as mixers, gunning machines, and related systems.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a continuous improvement mindset.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to present technical information to diverse audiences.
- Advanced Microsoft 365 skills; SAP experience is a plus.
- Strong organizational skills, self-motivation, and the ability to work independently and collaboratively across functions.
- Willingness and ability to travel extensively (75%+) throughout North America.
