Service Technician Refractories

About you:

You are service minded, pro-active and enjoy working with a diverse range of tasks and responsibilities.     Working with machinery, technical equipment and systems is not new to you, and you feel at home working in a production environment. You enjoy working with different stakeholders and are a true team player. Working from behind your computer combined with working on site, equipped with protective clothing, is something you feel comfortable with. You are structured, independent, reliable and like to offer first-class service where needed.


In addition, you have:

  • Completed relevant education (e.g. carpenter, bricklayer)
  • Several years of professional experience and a strong technical understanding, ideally in the refractory industry
  • High level of service orientation, strong problem-solving skills, decision making and sense of responsibility
  • Good, confident and convincing communication skills in English and Dutch, German will be considered an asset
  • Ability and willingness to establish and maintain relationships with different stakeholders
  • Good knowledge of MS Office (esp. Excel, Outlook, Teams)


About the job:

As a Service Technician, you will be working mainly at our customer's plant (in IJmuiden). You will be responsible for a diverse and varied range of tasks. Part of your job includes being the technical support for our customer regarding questions concerning the use and installation of our products. As a true team player, you will work closely with the Sales Managers, the internal Sales team and the Support team. You are continuously in contact with the customer and provide them with a first-class service.


Your tasks will include:


  • Assistance and guidance in the use / installation of all RHI Magnesita refractory products
  • Inspection of incoming goods prior to the installation of our products, including documentation of detected defects (e.g. transport damage)
  • Ensuring the proper and professional execution of refractory lining work (spraying, casting, ramming, vibrating and bricklaying work)
  • Installation of functional products and independent intervention in case of irregularities
  • Testing, monitoring and documentation for the introduction of our refractory products
  • Carrying out minor repairs and maintenance on the processing machines stationed with our customers
  • Travelling to other RHI Magnesita sites on a regular basis (25 – 40%)
