About the job 

The Refractory Engineer is responsible for the supervision of installation and use of RHI Magnesita products at customers’ sites in accordance with RHIM technical standards. He/She is responsible in ensuring continuous customer satisfaction and improvement by acting as a technical advisor at the interface between customer installations teams, operations personnel, site technical representatives and RHIM Sales, Product Management and Machinery Departments. The position holder is the Subject Matter Expert regards Oceania Steel Customer production processes and refractory requirements. As such – this role is key resource to Oceania Sales Team as well as China & East Asia Technical Marketing Department

 

Your tasks will include:

Installation Supervision:

  • Provide technical information and installation instructions for RHIM products.
  • Ensure RHIM products are suitable for their intended use.
  • Collect necessary customer information for installation.
  • Communicate with customer representatives and RHIM’s Product Management Team.
  • Support RHIM engineers/advisors on-site.

Technical Consultancy:

  • Plan and conduct regular customer visits.
  • Respond promptly to customer service requests.
  • Monitor and report on RHIM product performance.
  • Audit Interstop flow control equipment and be the local expert on these systems.
  • Ensure RHIM products and equipment are used correctly.
  • Investigate product failures and facilitate trials, ensuring procedures are followed.
  • Deliver technical presentations and training for RHIM products to customers.
  • Understand customer processes and needs.
  • Write detailed reports on product performance, trials, failures, and new business opportunities, and share them with RHIM teams.
  • Ensure smooth communication between customers and RHIM colleagues.

Sales & Commercial Support:

  • Assist with customer demand planning and delivery updates.
  • Support the RHIM Sales Manager/Key Account Manager as needed.
  • Help with proposal preparation and investigate customer complaints.
  • Understand competitor products and identify new business opportunities.
  • Act as a liaison between customers, RHIM Sales Support, and Engineering Services.

Health & Safety:

  • Complete all RHIM OHS&E training on time.
  • Follow customer specific OHS&E rules and keep site inductions up to date.
  • Adhere to both RHIM and customer OHS&E principles and rules.

Interactions & Behavior:

  • Maintain professionalism at customer sites and meetings.
  • Be honest and open in all interactions.
  • Communicate effectively with RHIM support staff.

Project Management:

  • Support various projects (FLS, CB, FMS) as needed.
  • Initiate CRM entries for product development.

Administration:

  • Complete monthly reporting tasks on time.
  • Create reports and provide business updates as needed.
  • Ensure all compliance training is finished by the deadline.

Skills Development:

  • Attend relevant technical training courses and RHIM e-learning.
  • Gain deep knowledge of RHIM systems, product information, and the company’s global structure and capabilities.
