RHI Magnesita is seeking a dynamic Engineered Ceramics Supervisor to work in our York, PA plant.  This supervisor position will oversee the daily operation of the Engineered Ceramics department.  Duties for this position will include, prioritization of a safe work environment, oversight for meeting production dates, monitoring quality of production, delegation daily staffing duties, trainings, payroll, 6S/Lean practices, and RCA investigations for quality and safety incidents.

Tasks will include: 

  • Drive change and champion our culture of interdepartmental collaboration and accountability.
  • Work directly with the Management Team, Supervisor Team, Technical Experts, and Team Members to ensure alignment and adherence to corporate objectives, and goals. 
  • Lead through a communicative leadership style, with two-way communication, and high employee engagement. 
  • Ensure all employees are aware of their responsibilities, how they contribute to the total result, and that they are recognized for performance.
  • Champion the Company culture promoting the values and principles of RHI Magnesita.
  • Ensure that all production meets internal quality guidelines. 
  • Promote and ensure the compliance with safety standards within the Company.
  • Review and analyze production records to identify opportunities for improvement.
  • Monitor and maintain equipment performance to ensure operation at standard specifications.
  • Work to ensure compliance with production schedule.
  • Take all appropriate actions to ensure the next shift will be able to start, and operate as smoothly as possible. 
  • Align with maintenance to ensure that production equipment runs safely and efficiently.
  • Constantly work to improve processes and elevate suggestions made by the team. 
  • Participate in the development of IMS-Documentation (procedural & work instruction).

About you: 

  • Technical High school diploma or equivalent
  • 3-5 years of experience in a manufacturing or heavy industrial environment
  • Solid understanding of safety protocols and regulations within a manufacturing environment
  • Proven experience in a supervisory role within ceramics manufacturing
  • Thorough understanding of the unshaped production process
  • Familiarity with quality control methodologies and tools, such as statistical process control and root cause analysis
  • Experience with process optimization, lean manufacturing principles, and continuous improvement methodologies
  • Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams, including engineering, quality control, and supply chain management
  • Microsoft proficiency (Word, Outlook, Excel), Power BI and SAP
  • 6S/Lean practices
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to motivate and develop a high-performing production team
  • Support and promote cultural themes
  • Must be open to new processes, training, and owning the decisions made on shift
  • Must be a strong problem solver
