About the opportunity

We are seeking a Research Technician at our York, PA facility. This position will directly assist the R&D Engineer and/or Project Manager in refractory material development. This position will also provide in-house testing support for our manufacturing team. This is a 100% onsite, hourly position.

Qualifications:

• Prior research or quality experience preferred.
• Possess computer skills in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, SAP, and/or ERP experience.
• Excellent Communication skills.
• Experienced working in an atmosphere where safety is priority.
• Ability to maintain professional working relationships within all levels of the organization.
• Skilled in safe forklift operation including lab and plant equipment operations.
• Critical thinking skills necessary to schedule and perform required testing.
• Data interpretation and high attention to detail required.
• Must be able to safely lift 50 lbs.

Responsibilities:

• Assist engineers in refractory product trials and materials testing.
• Utilize SAP to request work orders.
• Maintain a database of test results in lab notebook.
• Assure quality and accuracy of all data being generated.
• Produce lab samples, preparation of samples for testing and performing tests.
• Run high temperature kilns and test equipment.
• Comfortable working with wet and dry saws, cutting various samples sizes in preparation of testing.
• Must be able to follow process and procedures accurately including ISO processes.
• Must be able to follow and adhere to all cardinal safety rules.
• Must always wear the proper PPE, including suiting up for furnace access (3,000-degree F).
• Maintain a clean and orderly workspace.
• Participate in corporate laboratory initiatives such as 6S.
