About the opportunity?

The Head of Maintenance & Engineering is responsible for ensuring optimal efficiency of plant facilities and equipment by developing and overseeing maintenance and engineering teams and procedures. This position involves strategic planning and execution of maintenance and engineering operations, leadership of the maintenance and engineering teams, and continuous improvement of processes to enhance safety, efficiency, and reliability. The Head of Maintenance & Engineering plays a critical role in minimizing downtime, managing budgets, and ensuring compliance with industry standards and regulations.

• Promote a culture of safety within maintenance and engineering teams by setting a positive example and fostering environments where safe practices are a priority.
• Develop and implement maintenance and engineering strategies, procedures, and methods across various departments.
• Lead a team of maintenance and engineering professionals, providing training and development to ensure a high level of competency and performance.
• Oversee the installation, repair, and upkeep of the plant’s property, including equipment, mechanical/electrical systems, buildings, and other structures.
• Plan and manage the budget for maintenance and engineering, ensuring cost-effectiveness and resource optimization.
• Conduct regular inspections of equipment and systems to predict potential failures and schedule preventive maintenance.
• Liaise with other managers and employees, particularly with regards to safety, production, and quality to ensure the efficient operation of the plant.
• Ensure compliance with health and safety legislation, environmental regulations, and industry standards.
• Drive continuous improvement initiatives, adopting new technologies and processes to enhance operational efficiency and reliability.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

About you:

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field. A Master’s degree or MBA is preferred.
• Minimum of 10 years of experience in maintenance and engineering within an industrial setting, with at least 5 years in a leadership role.
• Strong knowledge of mechanical and electrical systems, as well as industry best practices.
• Proven track record of managing budgets, leading teams, and implementing maintenance and engineering strategies.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to make decisions in a fast-paced environment.
• In depth understanding of maintenance management systems and software (SAP).
• Exceptional leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
• Working knowledge of OSHA/MSHA regulations.
