Maintenance Scheduler/Planner
Reports to: Maintenance Planning & Scheduling Supervisor
Hours: Scheduled Monday-Friday, 6a-4p.
Summary:
The Maintenance Planner/Scheduler is responsible for developing and managing detailed maintenance schedules that balance operational priorities, workforce availability, and equipment reliability. This role ensures that maintenance activities are executed efficiently, on time, and with minimal disruption to production, while maintaining compliance with safety and quality standards.
Responsibilities:
- Ensure Safe Practices are used by Maintenance employees and promote safe work environment.
- Schedule Maintenance Mulitcrafts, Mechanics and Electricians on all shifts to complete PM’s and Service Orders.
- Communicate needs of equipment downtime with the Technical Experts/Supervisors.
- Distribute work to all shifts and follow up with team as work progresses.
- Evaluate progress of jobs and communicate with departments of work being performed, and timeline of completion.
- Schedule maintenance work during outages. Coordinate scheduled work with Engineering and contractors.
- Facilitate Maintenance/Production scheduling meeting.
- Perform Audits of scheduled work.
- Contractor check-ins when planned jobs are being executed by contractors.
- Willing to work OT, weekends and off shift schedule as needed to support the operations.
- Properly plan Maintenance jobs by providing job plan requirements below:
- Purpose/Scope of the work order.
- Job step sequence (operations).
- Physical verification of parts/material on hand, signed out and kitted/palletized.
- Safety related issues. (LOTO, special PPE requirements, special hazards, required permits, etc.)
- Manpower needed. Total job duration.
- Procedures needed.
- Equipment drawings.
- Specifications and tolerances (Torque requirements, wear limits)
- Special tools and Equipment (Cranes, Lifts, Special hand tools)
- Testing requirements.
Required Skills:
- Proficient with a PC and Microsoft suite (Outlook, Teams, Excel, Word, etc.)
- Ability to efficiently navigate the CMMS (SAP) and continue to assist with deploying full utilization of the system.
- Ability to think creatively and problem solve to ensure optimal equipment production and reduce downtime.
- Ability to keep a cool head and rationalize situations to ensure good conflict resolution.
- Clear and concise written & verbal communication skills, ability to work and communicate effectively with all levels of the organization.
- Strong organization skills.
- Proven ability to navigate computer effectively utilize program tools such as: Excel, Word, Outlook.
- Ability to make critical decisions in a fast paced, production oriented work environment. Ability to work well under pressure is vital to the success of this role.
- Willingness to assess employees for skill set and potential areas of development.
- Capable of completing work in a timely manner.
- Promotes positive team environment.
Desired experience:
- 2–4 years in maintenance planning or scheduling within an industrial environment.
- Proficiency with SAP PM
- Strong knowledge of plant equipment and process. Rotary kilns, Conveyors, Screens, mixers, presses, etc.
- Lean Six-Sigma Green Belt
