Manufacturing Engineering Intern - Summer 2027

As an Engineering Intern at our York, PA facility, you will gain hands-on experience supporting either our Production Engineering or Maintenance & Reliability Engineering teams. This paid internship provides a unique opportunity to apply engineering principles in a manufacturing environment while contributing to projects focused on safety, process improvement, equipment reliability, quality, and operational excellence.

Working alongside experienced engineers, operations leaders, and maintenance professionals, you will participate in meaningful projects that directly impact plant performance while developing technical, analytical, and leadership skills.

What You'll Do

Production Engineering Focus

• Assist with process improvement initiatives that drive safety, quality, productivity, and cost reduction.
• Collect, organize, and analyze production data to identify trends and optimization opportunities.
• Support root cause analysis efforts related to production challenges and process performance.
• Participate in Lean Manufacturing and continuous improvement projects.
• Assist in developing and updating standard operating procedures, process documentation, and work instructions.
• Support engineering projects involving equipment, processes, and manufacturing systems.
• Collaborate with production, quality, maintenance, and engineering teams to improve operational performance.

Maintenance & Reliability Engineering Focus

• Support preventive and predictive maintenance programs to improve equipment reliability and plant uptime.
• Assist with equipment inspections, troubleshooting, and reliability studies.
• Analyze maintenance performance data and key reliability metrics.
• Participate in root cause failure analysis and corrective action implementation.
• Support maintenance and reliability improvement projects.
• Assist with equipment documentation, spare parts analysis, and maintenance procedure updates.
• Collaborate with operations and maintenance personnel to improve asset effectiveness.

Shared Responsibilities

• Promote and support a strong safety culture while adhering to all environmental, health, and safety requirements.
• Participate in engineering and continuous improvement projects.
• Prepare reports, presentations, and recommendations based on project findings.
• Gain exposure to manufacturing processes, industrial equipment, automation systems, and engineering best practices.
• Support special projects and other duties as assigned.

What You Bring

Required

• Currently pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related technical discipline.
• Sophomore, Junior, Senior, or Graduate student in good academic standing.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel.
• Effective verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to work independently and within a cross-functional team environment.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to safety.

Preferred

• Previous internship, co-op, laboratory, or project experience in manufacturing or industrial operations.
• Exposure to Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, reliability principles, CAD software, or data analysis tools.
• Interest in manufacturing operations, process engineering, maintenance, or reliability engineering.

Physical & Work Environment

• Manufacturing plant environment requiring interaction with production equipment and machinery.
• Ability to work in both office and industrial settings.
• Must be able to wear required personal protective equipment (PPE) and comply with all plant safety requirements.
