Pressing Supervisor - 1st Shift

SUMMARY:

The Pressing Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the daily operation of the assigned shift within the Pressing Department. The Pressing Supervisor will help to ensure a safe work environment, provide oversight for meeting production dates, monitor quality of production, delegate daily staffing duties, trainings, payroll, 6S/Lean practices, and RCA investigations for quality and safety incidents.

  • Promote a culture of safety within the Pressing team by setting a positive example and fostering environments where safe practices are a priority.
  • Drive change and champion the Company culture by promoting the values and principles of RHI Magnesita.
  • Work directly with the Management Team, Supervisor Team, Technical Experts, and Team Members to ensure alignment and adherence to corporate objectives and goals.
  • Lead through a communicative leadership style, with two-way communication, and high employee engagement.
  • Ensure all employees are aware of their responsibilities, how they contribute to the total result, and that they are recognized for performance.
  • Promote interdepartmental collaboration and accountability.
  • Ensure that all production meets internal quality guidelines.
  • Promote and ensure the compliance with safety standards within the Company.
  • Review and analyze production records to identify opportunities for improvement.
  • Monitor and maintain equipment performance to ensure operation at standard specifications.
  • Work to ensure compliance with production schedule.
  • Take all appropriate actions to ensure the next shift will be able to start and operate as smoothly as possible.
  • Align with Maintenance to ensure that production equipment runs safely and efficiently.
  • Constantly work to improve processes and elevate suggestions made by the team.
  • Participate in the development of IMS-Documentation (procedural and work instruction).
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

 

SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Technical High school diploma or equivalent.
  • 3-5 years of experience in a manufacturing or heavy industrial environment.
  • Thorough understanding of safety protocols and regulations within a manufacturing environment.
  • Proven experience in a supervisory role.
  • Familiarity with quality control methodologies and tools, such as statistical process control and root cause analysis.
  • Experience with process optimization, 6S/Lean practices and principles, and continuous improvement methodologies.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams, including engineering, quality control, and supply chain management.
  • Microsoft proficiency (Word, Outlook, Excel), Power BI and SAP.
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to motivate and develop a high-performing team.
  • Must be open to new processes, training, and owning the decisions made on shift.
  • Must be a strong problem solver.

  • Physical demands include but are not limited to standing, walking, sitting, bending, kneeling, pushing, pulling, climbing, and lifting – 50 pounds maximum.
