Production Scheduler/Planner

 

Shift: 6am-2pm Monday-Friday, and on call every other weekend

 

Job Purpose and Summary:

The Production Scheduler/Planner creates and manages efficient production schedules that align labor, materials, and equipment with customer demand. This role converts forecasts and orders into clear production plans, works cross‑functionally to address capacity or supply issues, and adjusts schedules to maintain steady production flow. Strong analytical and communication skills support effective problem‑solving, reduced bottlenecks, and continuous improvement across operations.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Promote and actively participate in the safety process to ensure safe working practices within the plant, targeting hazard recognition and injury prevention.
  • Have a solid understanding of all safety procedures and practices.
  • Responsible for continually developing and maintaining the production schedule to meet customer orders and inventory requirements.
  • Fosters the values and habits consistent with RHIM culture.
  • Gain knowledge of all planning areas to fully understand the bottle necks and how downtime and efficiencies impact the schedule.
  • Interface with Customer Service and production personnel to ensure optimal balancing of production efficiencies, scrap rates, and customer demands.
  • Coordinate PM’s, maintenance, and outages with Production and Maintenance.
  • Maintain inventory targets where appropriate, ensuring targets are kept up to date to meet customer requirements while maintaining planned inventory levels.
  • Utilize the management system to meet established goals and objectives and drive continual improvement.
  • Generate daily and weekly production reports.
  • Position requires a 24/7 commitment with some scheduling calls taking place on nights/weekends.
  • Position requires training as backup(s) to support the departmental needs.
  • Assist in the coordination of process improvement implementations.

 

Qualifications:

  • Ability to effectively multi-task in a very fast paced environment is a must.
  • Internal fortitude to make the tough, but correct, decisions when faced with competing interests from various departments (internal and external customers).
  • Professional attitude and approach to work.
  • Strong analytical skills. 
  • Strong experience with purchasing, MRP/ERP systems (SAP).
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office applications.
  • Excellent communication skills (written and verbal).
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of changing situations.
