Shipping Supervisor - 1st Shift

Overview
This position is responsible for directing and optimizing the York Shipping Department overseeing the Brick Plant shipping, Specialties shipping, Engineered Ceramics shipping, Minerals shipping, and Patriot Warehouse. This role is pivotable in the development of Key Performance Indicators and department analytics. As the Shipping Supervisor, the role will be instrumental in employee growth and empowerment.

 

Responsibilities and duties

  • Promote and actively participate in the safety process to ensure safe working practices within the plant and shipping, targeting hazard recognition and injury prevention.
  • Fosters the values and habits consistent with RHIM culture.
  • Lead all areas of shipping including Brick Plant shipping, Specialties shipping, EC shipping and Patriot warehouse.
  • Work directly with management team, supervisor team, technical experts, and team members to ensure alignment and adherence to corporate objectives and goals.
  • Lead with high employee engagement and open communication.
  • Ensure all employees are aware of their responsibilities, how they contribute to company goals and that they are recognized for performance.
  • Foster an environment for the team to learn and focus on career growth.
  • Develop, generate, and analyze daily, weekly, and monthly production/inventory reports.
  • Utilize KPIs to drive performance, meet established goals, and guide continuous improvement projects.
  • Gain knowledge of shipping processes to fully understand the bottle necks and efficiency impacts.
  • Responsible for overseeing the development of the shipping schedule to meet customer expectations.
  • Interface with Customer Service, SCM, planning, and production to ensure on time delivery of customer demands.
  • Oversee review and analysis of aging finished goods inventory.
  • Lead shift OBEYAs and 6S initiative.
  • Responsible for time tickets, employee documentation, yearly reviews, and new employee onboarding.
  • Constantly work to improve processes and elevates suggestions made by the team.
  • Participation in development of IMS-Documentation (procedures & work instruction).
  • Flexibility with hours to touch all shifts.

 

 Knowledge, skills, experience, education and abilities:

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Teams).
  • Ability to learn quickly, understand business systems, and adapt to urgent requirements.
  • Strong verbal and written communication, interpersonal, time management, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work under pressure with minimal supervision.
  • High level of accountability, accuracy, and efficiency.
  • Detail-oriented and highly organized.
