Shipping Tech Expert

SUMMARY:
This position provides support to the RHI Magnesita facility by serving as the subject matter expert for York Plant Shipping. Employee is the key resource for changes and process optimization, ensuring knowledge transfer and standard work practices are adhered to. This expert provides critical information to leaders for decision making purposes. Our successful team members are self-starters who can work independently without direct supervision and maintain composure under pressure. This position provides support to the shipping department by providing technical expertise to the entire department, completing/verifying department training and by following safe work practices. The employee will ensure that all processes are complete, shipments are on time and continually seeks to improve the process. As the tech expert, the employee will need to be innovative, self-directed, organized, effective trainer and communicator, able to work independently without direct supervision. 


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

· Promote and actively participate in the safety process to ensure safe working practices within the plant, targeting hazard recognition and injury prevention.
· Have a solid understanding of all safety procedures and practices.
· Understand and work with all packing lists, bills of lading, export papers, dock receipts, envelopes and stickers for all shipments.
· Support dept. employees in their daily tasks
· Make technical decisions in absence of Supervisor
· First point of contact for Shipping related issues
· Daily communications with Supervisors on all activities and concerns
· Employee training with Supervisor progress updates
· Understand weights for truckloads and railcars, consistent with weight limit restrictions.
· Proper documentation of each shipment or transfer.
· Understand the process of truck registration log and files including railcar picture file.
· Ability to operate forklift to load trucks
· Responsible for the accuracy of all inventories stored at the warehouses
· Responsible for overseeing the counting and reporting of all inventories during cycle counts
· Communicate with the Regional Transportation Team
· Adhere to all Warehouse Type Policies
· Adhere to all FIBC Guidelines
· Perform other duties as assigned.

SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:
· Preferred knowledge of the shipping area and processes
. Detail Oriented 
· Effective and open communication with all team members
· Good basic mathematical skills
· Legible appearance of all reports, logs and files.
· Accuracy of all work performed.
· Professional appearance of all shipping documents.
· Knowledge of all shipping procedures.
· Preferred knowledge with Microsoft Word, Excel, E-mail, SAP and MII.
· Ability to drive a sit-down forklift
· Following all applicable work instructions.
· Job requires standing, lifting, walking, bending, kneeling, pushing, pulling, climbing ladder, lifting and carrying up to 75 pounds and wearing all personal protective equipment required to do the job (including hard hat, foam sealed safety glasses, safety shoes, gloves).
· Ability to work in a variety of working conditions including, but not limited to heat, cold, dust, and noise
· Accuracy of paperwork, data entries, shift data, computerized work time entry, SPC, etc.

•    Perform all work in accordance with RHI Magnesita’s Health and Safety policies.
•    Adhere to all EHS and IMS policies and job expectations as specified in the Job Descriptions of the Persons Responsible for IMS, RHI Magnesita NAM Regional Safety Rules, Roles, Responsibilities, and Authorities, and Safety Rules and Responsibilities documents. 
•    The work is performed outdoors and/or indoors, enduring heat, cold, rain, dust, wind, and other elements. 
•    Capable of operating various types of heavy equipment and/or machinery. (Field)
•    Capable of operating various types of office equipment including but not limited to computers, phones, copiers, and scanners. (Office)

PHYSICAL CAPABILITIES:
•    Physical demands include but are not limited to standing, walking, sitting, bending, kneeling, pushing, pulling, climbing, and lifting – xx pounds maximum.
•    Must be able to wear all required personal protective equipment (including hard hat, safety glasses, safety shoes, and gloves).

Work Hours: 1st shift 7am-3pm including weekend / after hours on call
Supervisory Status: Non-Supervisor
