6S Technical Expert

Join our York team as a 6S Technical Expert and play a key role in supporting the day-to-day execution and sustainment of 6S Lean initiatives across the campus and mines.

Working closely with the Head of 6S Lean, this role provides hands-on support through training, audits, data tracking, documentation, and cross-functional improvement activities. You’ll help reinforce consistent standards, strengthen accountability, and support a culture focused on safety and continuous improvement.

What You'll D
6S Lean Execution & Continuous Improvement
  • Support the Head of 6S Lean in executing daily 6S activities, priorities, and action items across the plant and mines.
  • Serve as a technical resource for 6S Lean methodologies, tools, and standards.
  • Assist in planning, tracking, and reporting progress of 6S initiatives, audits, and Kaizen events.
  • Utilize Lean tools to support improvements in 6S audit scores, workplace organization, standard work, and visual management.
  • Reinforce Lean Daily Management practices and support team engagement activities.
What You'll Do

  • Reinforce Lean Daily Management practices and support team engagement activities.
Cross-Functional & Project Support
  • Support cross-functional Kaizen teams by coordinating activities, facilitating problem-solving tools, and tracking action items.
  • Collaborate with Operations, Maintenance, Engineering, Quality, Procurement, R&D, and other departments to support improvement work and 6S initiatives.
  • Coordinate with external vendors and internal stakeholders to support improvement activities and project needs.
  • Support recurring 6S Lean meetings by preparing materials, capturing action items, and communicating updates.
  • Provide support for additional projects and business priorities as assigned by leadership.
Data, Systems & Communication
  • Collect data and support preparation of presentations and reports for leadership review.
  • Assist in tracking financial impacts of improvements, including cost savings and efficiency gains.
  • Enter maintenance work orders and purchase requisitions in SAP as needed to support improvement activities.
  • Utilize plant communication platforms, such as Workvivo, to support awareness and engagement around 6S activities.
What You Bring
Required Qualifications
  • 2–4 years of experience working with Lean, 6S, or continuous improvement methodologies in a manufacturing or industrial environment.
  • High conversational and written proficiency in English.
  • Strong analytical and organizational skills.
  • Hands-on, detail-oriented, and execution-focused with strong follow-through.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with teams at all levels of the organization.
  • Ability to manage multiple initiatives and adapt to changing priorities.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Familiarity with data entry, reporting, and business systems.
  • Experience with SAP or similar enterprise systems.
  • Experience using digital communication platforms to support employee engagement and information sharing.

  • Wear all required personal protective equipment, including hard hat, safety glasses, safety shoes, and gloves.
  • Operate standard office equipment, including computers, phones, copiers, and scanners.
